Living true to ourselves
We are BIPOC coaches who will help you explore your roots, values, and leadership through an equity framework
“A system that never addresses the why behind a harm never actually contains the harm itself.”
This quote from Miriam Kaba forms the essence of the coaching that we do here at A Better Force, and that is guiding you on your personal and professional development journey while being cognizant of systemic issues like racism, colonization, and capitalism that forms the root of most of our modern society’s dysfunction. What that looks like in our sessions is while talking about issues like low-confidence, anxiety, or perfectionism, we also end up discussing intergenerational trauma or racial violence that has affected your families and communities. We move forward on your journey of personal growth, not just by discussing strategies, but also by exploring your histories, systems, and relationships to understand the roots of present day issues. Additionally, we have guided worksheets for you to preserve your reflections and insights and help you process past incidents. Read on to learn more about our focus areas. All individual sessions can be customized, including the length of engagement and topics.

For first-time clients, this personal development series is usually where we start our journey. Clients are encouraged to share their fears, and we break each one down, exploring root causes and beliefs, and coming up with strategies to counter the fears or help manage them. From there we talk about your unique strengths and passions, the values that matter to you and give you the tools to build your confidence and start living true to yourself.
Suggested engagement: Four 60-min sessions ($540)

If you’re specifically struggling with managing your time and boundaries, this series is the one for you. In these sessions, we teach that time management is often about sorting your priorities and focusing on the quality of time spent than the quantity of things that are done. In order to understand this fully, we also talk about values and why it’s important to have boundaries in place that work for you and your culture. We finish off this series by talking about procrastination and fear or failure, and how our desire for perfectionism keeps us from living our best lives.
Suggested time frame: Three to four 60-min sessions ($450 - $540)

This is part of our advanced personal development series that helps you to start thinking in a decolonial lens and explore where your definitions of success come from and whether they actually fit with the life that you want for yourself. We talk about the misconceptions of success and how toxic environments and society itself plant the seeds of doubt and shame in our minds. We make a case for valuing everyday happiness over impossible to achieve goals and standards, and why we need to start valuing ourselves for who we are vs. what we do.
Suggested engagement: Two to four 60-min sessions depending on prior work ($300 - $540) -
This is part of our advanced personal development series that guides you in the exploration of your identity, which is a crucial step to finding your voice, especially if you are from a BIPOC, immigrant, queer or other historically marginalized communities. We explore topics like racial, colonial and intergenerational trauma, and how that has shaped your life and thinking. From there we guide you through a decolonial and equity framework to help you find and hone your unique voice.

This is part of our leadership development series that guides you in honing your leadership skills through an equity and decolonial framework. This means we focus on collaborative leadership, where we prioritize community over competition. We teach leaders how to draw from the diverse strength of their teams rather than doing the work alone and getting burnt out. A central component of this type of leadership training is to build community-centered movements, to avoid the initiative becoming dependent on specific individuals. We also teach tools to focus on impact over intent, think about long term sustainability and strategize how leaders can work together collective liberation.
Suggested engagement: Four 60-min sessions ($540)

Reviews for Individual Coaching
“I have been doing weekly coaching sessions with Saamiya since 2021. I struggle with chronic illness, ADHD and other life problems that keep derailing me. Sessions have helped me navigate these issues more effectively by breaking down overwhelming situations into manageable pieces to sort out one at a time. I originally started sessions to create structure for ADHD and manageable goals around chronic illness. Medication therapies did not help long term. Coaching and counseling type therapies helped me immensely over time. She made personalized goal sheets and helped me sort my thoughts so I could be more concise with my feelings.

“Saamiya is very compassionate, a great listener, and very in tune with her clients. Her tailored approach cut straight through to what I needed, and she made it very easy to discuss the heart of my issues. Over the course of our sessions, I learned how to lift the wall of fear and make major strides towards what I truly wanted, not what others wanted for me.”
— Devonn P.
“It was a pleasure working with Saamiya and our sessions have helped me in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I very much look forward to working with her again in the future.”

OUR STORY
And why we started coaching…
Hi there, we’re the team of sisters who created A Better Force to bring an equity focus into the leadership development industry. If you’ve landed on this page, chances are that you are on a journey for self-healing and growth. In our hyper productive society, it’s not easy to seek help, so we wanted to commend you for taking this very important first step.
A little bit about us, we’re first generation, Asian and Muslim immigrants to the US. We started this company because we wanted to bring our unique voices to the leadership and coaching industry, and tailor our programs to serve historically marginalized communities, who often have structural barriers that get unaddressed in traditional leadership training. We will be exploring themes like racism, imperialism and inter-generational trauma and how those affect your present life.
Both our backgrounds are in Civil Engineering, with Saamiya doing her PhD on Construction Materials, and Sarah switching to Social Psychology for her doctorate. We’re both anime and bubble tea fans, and are passionate about empowering individuals and communities to live their best lives by being true to themselves.
